Ancient Idols - Did You Know?

Ancient civilizations revered jaguars as much as we do (or at least should) today. Mesoamerican cultures like the Aztecs, the Olmecs, and the Mayans worshipped gods that took on the form of jaguars. They embodied strength and spiritual significance, and were a centerpiece for aligning human communities with the natural world. Today jaguars are plagued by poaching and habitat loss, and if we want future generations to have the opportunity to admire these inspiring animals, we must strive to protect them by eliminating harmful human practices that are causing their numbers to decline.
