Diverse Appetites - Did You Know?
Jaguars are opportunistic hunters that will prey on a wide variety of animals. Their prey can include fish, deer, peccaries, capybaras, caiman and other crocodiles, tapirs, sloths, turtles, lizards, birds, monkeys, snakes, and just about anything else that they can catch. They have also been known to hunt and eat livestock, such as cattle, due to dwindling natural habitat and prey. This can lead to friction with people living near their feeding grounds. Protecting the ecosystems of jaguars is crucial so that they can thrive and coexist side-by-side with local human populations.
